This Privacy Policy describes how Glint ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application available through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. By installing or using Glint, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Summary (Plain English)

  • Glint does not require an account or sign-in to use the core app. An optional Google sign-in is used only if you turn on Google Drive backup on Android.
  • All your subscription data is stored only on your device by default. We do not run servers that store your data.
  • Two optional features can send limited data off-device, and only when you use them: brand logos send the brand domain or typed keyword to Brandfetch; optional Pro cloud backup saves subscriptions, categories, and settings to your own iCloud account on iOS or Google Drive account on Android. We never receive a copy.
  • We have no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no behavioural tracking, and no third-party data brokers.
  • Notifications are scheduled and shown locally on your device. We do not run a push-notification server.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Glint stores the following information only on your device in a local database:

  • Subscription details you enter: service name, price, currency, billing cycle, renewal date, category, notes, trial information, and cancellation status.
  • App settings: preferred currency, theme, reminder preferences, onboarding completion status, and backup preferences.
  • Pro entitlement status.

This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable an optional cloud feature or back up your device through the operating system. OS-level backups are governed by Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies.

2.2 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store on our servers, or process:

  • Your name, phone number, or personal identifier, except the selected Google account email used only for Android Google Drive backup management.
  • Advertising ID, device fingerprint, or location.
  • Behavioural analytics, crash reports, screen recordings, or usage statistics.
  • Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, camera, or biometric data. Optional biometric authentication is handled entirely by the operating system; we never receive or store biometric templates.

2.3 Information Automatically Processed by Third Parties

When you use specific features, third parties receive limited technical information required for those features:

  • In-app purchase: a purchase transaction token issued by Google Play or Apple, processed by the relevant store and validated through RevenueCat.
  • Brand logos and search: the brand domain or search keyword you enter, plus standard HTTPS request metadata such as your IP address, sent to Brandfetch.
  • Currency rates: a public HTTPS request to ExchangeRate-API containing no subscription details or Glint account information. The provider may receive standard request metadata such as your IP address.
  • Optional Pro cloud backup: the full backup file is uploaded to your own iCloud or Google Drive account. We do not receive a copy.

We do not maintain identifiers that link these technical requests back to your real identity inside Glint.

3. How We Use Your Information

The subscription data you enter is used solely to:

  • Display subscriptions, billing cycles, and upcoming renewals inside the app.
  • Calculate total monthly and yearly spend in your preferred currency where supported.
  • Schedule local reminder notifications before renewals or trial endings.
  • Maintain in-app settings between sessions.
  • If you enable cloud backup, serialise subscriptions, categories, and settings into a JSON backup file written to your own cloud storage account.

We do not sell, rent, lease, share for advertising, or otherwise disclose your subscription data to any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Google Play Billing (Android only)

Google Play Billing handles in-app purchases for the Pro upgrade. Google processes payment and issues a purchase token. Glint does not receive your payment card details or billing address. Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

4.2 Apple App Store / StoreKit (iOS only)

4.3 RevenueCat

RevenueCat validates in-app purchase receipts and determines whether an install has an active Pro entitlement. RevenueCat receives the purchase token issued by Google Play or Apple, an anonymous installation identifier generated by the RevenueCat SDK, and platform information such as operating system and app version. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, subscription data, or other information from Glint. RevenueCat privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

4.4 Cloud Backup — Apple iCloud and Google Drive (optional Pro feature)

This feature is off by default and is activated only when you turn on Cloud backup in Settings.

  • On iOS, Glint uploads the backup to your own iCloud account in an app-private AppData container that is not visible in your iCloud file browser. The OS uses your existing iCloud login.
  • On Android, Glint uploads the backup to your own Google Drive in the hidden app-private appDataFolder. A one-time Google sign-in provides a short-lived OAuth access token and your Google account email. The email is stored locally only to show which Drive account is connected and prevent accidental restore from the wrong account. It is stripped from uploaded backups. Glint requests only the drive.appdata scope and cannot read or write any other Drive file.

Important points:

  • We never receive a copy of your backup. It is stored in your own cloud account.
  • You can turn cloud backup off at any time. You can delete the backup from Glint’s backup management screen or, on Android, from Google Drive’s app-management settings. The file is named glint-backup.json.
  • Signing out of Google on Android revokes the OAuth token immediately.
  • Apple and Google may retain backup metadata according to their policies.

Glint’s use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. Google API data is used only to provide cloud backup, is not used for advertising, is not transferred except as needed to provide the feature, and is not read by humans except with explicit consent, for security, or where required by law.

4.5 Brandfetch — Brand Logos and Brand Search

To display recognisable subscription icons, Glint fetches brand logos from Brandfetch. Brandfetch receives the brand domain or typed search keyword, a Glint-owned client identifier, and standard HTTPS metadata including IP address. Brandfetch does not receive subscription prices, renewal dates, notes, identity, or other Glint data. Search results are cached locally for 24 hours. You can avoid Brandfetch requests by leaving brand/domain fields empty; Glint then uses a coloured initials tile. Brandfetch privacy policy: https://brandfetch.com/privacy

4.6 ExchangeRate-API

Glint fetches public foreign-exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API to display costs in your chosen currency where supported. Requests contain no subscription details or Glint account information. 4.7 Expo / Expo Notifications

Glint is built with Expo. Local notifications are scheduled and delivered by the device operating system; no notification content is sent to Expo or an external server. Glint does not use push notifications, so no push token is generated or transmitted. Expo privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy

Glint does not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Sentry, Crashlytics, or advertising or attribution SDKs.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • On-device app data is stored in a local SQLite database inside the OS-managed app sandbox.
  • We do not operate servers that store your subscription data.
  • Outbound requests for purchases, logos, exchange rates, and optional cloud backup use HTTPS.
  • Google Drive OAuth tokens are short-lived and stored only in the secure keystore provided by Google Sign-In.
  • Cloud backups use app-private iCloud or Drive AppData scopes.

No transmission or storage method is 100% secure. We minimise risk by keeping data on-device by default, using app-private cloud scopes for optional backup, and using industry-standard encryption for outbound requests.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Because the primary copy lives on your device, you control retention.

On-device data:

  • Delete an individual subscription inside Glint.
  • Delete all app data by uninstalling Glint, or on Android through Settings → Apps → Glint → Storage → Clear data.
  • On iOS, deleting the app removes its associated on-device data.

Cloud backup, if enabled:

  • Turning cloud backup off stops new uploads but leaves the existing file until you delete it.
  • Delete glint-backup.json using Glint’s backup management screen before uninstalling if you want to remove the cloud copy. On Android, you can also use Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → Glint → Delete hidden app data.
  • On Android, sign out of Google Drive in Glint Settings to revoke the OAuth token.

RevenueCat, Google Play, and Apple may retain purchase records for accounting, tax, refund, and fraud-prevention requirements. Brandfetch and ExchangeRate-API receive only transient request metadata and do not retain user-identifiable records on Glint’s behalf.

7. Permissions Requested

  • Notifications: used for local renewal reminders. Disable them in device settings or Glint Settings. Glint never sends server push notifications.
  • Internet access: used for logos, exchange rates, purchases, and optional cloud backup. Core functionality works offline.
  • Google account access on Android, optional: requested only when enabling Drive backup and limited to drive.appdata.
  • Biometric authentication, optional: handled by the operating system; Glint never sees or stores biometric data.

Glint does not request contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, location, SMS, call logs, or other sensitive data.

8. Children’s Privacy

Glint is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where that threshold applies, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact nagarajanseeni.dev@gmail.com.

9. Your Rights

Because primary data is stored on your device and optional backup is stored in your own iCloud or Google Drive account, most data-subject rights are exercised directly through Glint and your cloud provider. For third-party processors, use their privacy contact channels listed above.

Residents of California, the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and other privacy-protected jurisdictions may have additional statutory rights. To the extent we hold personal data under those laws, contact nagarajanseeni.dev@gmail.com. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under California law.

10. International Data Transfers

Subscription data is stored locally by default, so no international transfer occurs for that data. Optional features may send limited technical data to Brandfetch, ExchangeRate-API, RevenueCat, Google, or Apple servers in the United States or other countries under those providers’ published transfer frameworks.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect app, service, or legal changes. The Last updated date shows the latest revision. Significant changes will be highlighted in store release notes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.

This policy is intended to satisfy relevant Google Play, Google API Services User Data, Apple App Store, GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and COPPA disclosure requirements. If a provision conflicts with applicable law, the law of your jurisdiction prevails to the extent of the conflict.
